Next production: Habeas Corpus by Alan Bennett March 17-20th 2010
Habeas Corpus – the hilarious farce, written by Alan Bennett and directed by Robin Hill – is set in the late 1960s and takes a satirical swipe at the so-called “Permissive Society”. The action takes place in the home of the well-to-do, ageing, amorous GP, Dr Wicksteed. The audience witness the comings and goings of the Wicksteed family and their acquaintances, through a maze of mistaken identities and passionate encounters.
Characters with names such as Canon Throbbing (the lecherous vicar), Mrs Swabb (the nosy, gossipy charwoman), Sir Percy Shorter (the somewhat vertically challenged President of the BMA) and Lady Rumpers (formerly of Addis Ababa), combined with Alan Bennett’s observation of human nature and a pinch of “Carry On” film humour, provide a not-to-be-missed evening of laughter, fun and mayhem. To be staged in Belstone Village Hall from Wednesday 17th – Saturday 20th March. Bar open before the performance, during the interval and after the performance.
Bar open from 7pm – curtain up at 7.30pm; Tickets £5 from Marion & Chris Walpole 840498
