February 24, 2010:
Will everybody in Belstone be able to receive broadband?
Graham Cruickshank tells us that Openreach have finally completed their work between Tongue End and the village and will be updating their records by the end of the week (26th February). He writes "I am told that we cannot expect ultra fast Broadband as we are so far from the exchange. We should only be looking for about 2 or3 megabytes maximum. When it is fitted ask about an 'accelerator', it fits into the main BT socket and speeds the system up, some companies supply them or you can buy them from BT for a few pounds and fit them yourselves. It does speed things up I am told." He goes on to wish everybody good luck in finding a service provider which he considers "....a nightmare." and finishes "Belstone being what it is I hope the reports of good companies, deals and service filter around the village to everybody's advantage."
We have also recently received reports from local people about very slow broadband speeds - is this all connected? Viv in Sticklepath sent us information concerning under capacity at our local exchange click here to view her letter.
