Tor Support is a small local charity providing free confidential counselling to children and young people from age 5-25 in the area of Okehampton and the surrounding parishes – and they are currently looking for a new trustee to take on the Treasurer role.

The charity has been in existence for over 10 years and sees about 130 young people a year for a range of emotional issues ranging from anxiety and exam stress through to bereavement, domestic violence and sexual exploitation. Their work is highly valued by the young people and by the referrers who include schools, local GP practices, families and young people themselves.

During the COVID-19 pandemic their team have stepped up to this challenge by changing over to counselling online and have continued to take on new referrals and provide support to vulnerable young people in our community.

Trustee Vacancy – Treasurer

There is currently a vacancy on the board of trustees for a new Treasurer. The present treasurer has been with Tor Support since the beginning but is now standing down due to outside work commitments.

The treasurer oversees the charity’s finances and the salary payments of its small staff. If you have an understanding of finance, and feel that you might like to join an enthusiastic group of trustees and fantastic counselling team, Tor Support would be very happy to talk to you in more detail about the role …
