Doors open at 7pm with a welcome cup of tea and an opportunity to chat. Our members come from a wide area, including Chagford, Okehampton and all the surrounding villages. The club welcomes new members and guests – at £15 membership for the year, it is very good value for money. Guests £4 for an evening.

Our first meeting of the season, 25 September, is ‘Must Have Garden Plants and Peter Cantrill will be our speaker. Peter, an expert nurseryman who runs the wholesale nursery Dayspring Plants near Exeter, will bring a selection of unusual herbaceous plants – many not normally found in your average garden centre. At our 23 October meeting Dr Ken Thompson will be giving a talk ‘No Nettles Required – The Truth about Gardening for Wildlife based on a book of the same name. Ken is an experienced ecologist and author who spent most of his career at Sheffield University and has now retired to Devon.
