Okehampton and District Local History Society Talk by Chris Walpole
Wednesday 12th November, Ockment Centre, Okehampton 7.30pm

How many times have you been to Cranmere Pool? How many future Kings have reached it?
Which Belstone folk went there in the early 20th century? Who has visited hundreds of times – and why? 
What did the conscientious objector from the Princetown Work Centre (aka Dartmoor Prison) write in the Visitors’ Book during the First World War? 
What’s going on up there right now? 

Find out the answers and hear about all aspects of this unique place in Chris’s History of Cranmere Pool talk at 7.30pm on Wednesday 12th November at the Ockment Centre, North Street, Okehampton (the talk is in the Hall to the left of the garden at the Centre). 
This Okehampton & District Local History Society meeting is open to everyone, visitors pay £3.

Below we have three Visitor Book entries from Belstone folk from before and just after the First World War, plus a photo taken last week of the Peatland Restoration works going on very close to Cranmere Pool.
