Animal trap found

For general awareness:

We have received notification that an animal trap (now disarmed) had been set and concealed in Skaigh Valley “a few yards off the path, Belstone side of the river about half way between Andrews Corner and Foxes Holt”. The trap involved spring loaded pointed hazel branches covered in bracken and what appeared to be some kind of a noose – pictures below. We are unaware of any other such traps in the area but a concerning position for dogs, children, livestock and us.

We believe the location was on Common land and for now have informed Belstone / South Tawton Commoners Associations, Sticklepath Parish Council as well as DNPA.

Should anyone have any information regarding this trap (or others), please do let us know.
