This is the time of year to manage your hedges and lay them when appropriate. In addition to being a wonderful resource for wildlife, hedges are a hugely important part of our cultural heritage. In places like Dartmoor, layer upon layer of history can be unpicked through studying the networks of field boundaries, most of which are banked hedges.
