It was with profound sadness that Belstone Parish Council learnt of the death of Her Majesty The Queen. The Council extends its heartfelt condolences to His Majesty The King and to the Royal Family.
We remember with gratitude the service that The Queen has given to this country and to the Commonwealth over so many years. The village was glad to celebrate The Queen’s Jubilee just a few months ago, and we feel the unity of that occasion in the sadness of the grief at this time.
A Book of Condolence will be opened at St Mary’s Church, Belstone from Sunday 11th September from 8am to dusk. Flowers can also be laid in the church porch or along the church path as a mark of respect. An alternative is to sign the online Book of Condolence at www.royal.uk/books-condolence or donate to one of the Queen’s charities which are listed at https://www.royal.uk/charities-and-patronages.
As we are now in a period of national mourning, the Parish Council meeting due to have been held on 13th September has been postponed. It is hoped to hold it on Tuesday 27th September instead.
