Mayor’s Awards nominations now live

Council agrees a package of financial Support

West Devon residents and businesses are set to receive financial support from a range of proposals which have been approved by West Devon Borough Council’s Hub.

UK SHARED PROSPERITY FUND

Councillors were given an update about the progress of the Shared prosperity fund grant. Various representatives from organisations involved in delivering the plans gave their reports. In late 2022, the Council secured £1m of government funding to support our businesses and community organisations. The proposed package of support was part of an investment plan which focused on clean growth and decarbonisation. An ambitious suite of projects has since been commissioned and have been delivering excellent results to date. Projects being undertaken outlned below.

The Apricot Centre –  are providing an Intensive Agriculture Innovation scheme involving 20 South Hams and West Devon farms. This scheme will assist with advice and support with decarbonisation, improving biodiversity and grazing regimes and developing regenerative farm methods. Places still available for applications from local farms.

Tamar Energy Community – have been engaged to provide advice and support with improving energy efficiency of homes particularly for those on low incomes. They will provide home assessments, advice on grants and support to achieve positive outcomes and reduce bills. Apply online at tamarenergycommunity.com

South Devon Energy Community – works with Tamar Energy community to supply energy advice in the South Hams area

WD Rural Prosperity fund grants

WD have a range of grant support using the fund these are;

  1. Decarbonisation Grant – up to £10,000 of matched funding for decarbonisation schemes.
  2. Agriculture Technology Grant – up to £10,00 of matched funding for farm innovation
  3. Farm Diversification Grant – up to £10,000 of matched funding for farm diversification schemes
  4. Community Resilience grant– up to £5,000 or 50% of the projects costs, to support local communities to thrive. Recipients have included village halls, and community spaces.

The Shared Prosperity grant is being put to good use in our area, to support as many farms and local communities as possible. Apply online on WD website, under communities’ grants and funding heading then community project grants
