Last year DNPA Ranger Ian Brooker led a party of intrepid Belstone conservationists into the undergrowth on the steep slopes below Great Green to begin the task of eradicating a spreading patch of the invasive non-native Himalayan Balsam. This July the group re-convened for another 90 minutes of effort and were pleased to note that there was less of the plant to pull out – ‘I think that’s a 95% success’ said Ian as the team headed to The Old School Tearoom in the village for refreshments.    Chris Walpole
