A new book of walks with local wildlife themes has just been published for family friendly routes around Dartmoor.
Produced by local blogger and wildlife writer Matt Parkins, the book contains ten routes around some of the interesting havens for the animals that live around Dartmoor. This pocket-sized book is beautifully illustrated by children from Okehampton Primary School and takes you through many of the most interesting natural habitats where you can look at the woods, valleys, rivers and rocks of the moor.
Matt lives and works around Dartmoor and, as an environmental tutor, teaches woodland skills, writes in magazines and blogs and enjoys researching the most interesting woodland conservation stories to share his love of the moor and its wildlife.
The walking routes range from 3km to 7km and will give a variety of opportunities for enjoyable days out in the fresh air. Each route is described in the book with a sketch map but it is recommended that you take a map with you as well.
Adventurous Animals – Family friendly wildlife walks around Dartmoor is available through visitor centres and other local outlets around Dartmoor and can be ordered on Amazon.
