French Dancing

Sunday 17th August Belstone Village Hall 3.00-5.30pm – all welcome to join in or just enjoy watching!

We are a group of musicians and dancers that have been running French and Breton dance sessions in North Devon for the last 15 years. The musicians also play quite regularly for the Exeter group that run French dance evenings every month (D’accord). The dances often take the form of a line or circle, others in couples or sets. They are easy to join in with but we have experienced dancers on hand to demonstrate, and new dances are walked through and explained by our teacher Jenny. Beginners are welcome and no partner is required. There is a break in the middle for drinks and cake.

In terms of drop-ins, we would ask you to pay the entrance fee if you want to actually come in. We also ask that everyone signs in (it’s required for our insurance with the English Folk Dance society). Nobody is under obligation to dance though – some people come to sit and chat and, sometimes join in for some of the dances. They enjoy the live music and the social side of things.
