The Editors were delighted to enjoy some excellent burgers and beer at the Tors last night and bring some great news from Dicky, Erin, Jazz and Scout . . .
We have decided at present to keep the public bar closed.
We have our fingers crossed for September as long as everything is getting better and the world is moving back towards some sort of normal.
We will look to train our staff with the new menu in August and hopefully offer some tasting evenings for the locals during the weekdays.
We have spent the past 3½ months re-decorating the public areas of the pub. We have looked to retain the character of The Tors whilst giving her a fresh look with some proper elbow grease including – a seasoned Devon Oak back bar, Real Ales on a still behind the bar, a new cellar for our chilled beers and ciders, a beaten copper top on the bar, slate flooring, fabulous artwork from Katherine Lightfoot, a new paint job & lighting, lime pointed granite wall (cheers Brucie), a spruce in the toilets & finally we have utilised the outside ‘Shed’ area.
The Shed has been a lockdown project and we are looking to use it for the Summer months.
It offers Smoked Meat Specials, Homemade Burgers, Vegetarian Options, Smoked Mac & Cheese, Local Ales, Tors Lager, Sandford Orchards Cider, G&T’s and Soft Drinks.
The idea is to accommodate the visitors and walkers in the area during the day in a more relaxed environment because we are outside with plenty of room. Also a place where the locals can grab a much needed pint of local ale. It’s a bit quirky but it’s designed to offer something for everyone and hopefully we can have a burger and a pint and not feel too stressed doing so.
We look forward to seeing you and we are excited about the day we can open the doors of the pub again. For now we need to keep an eye on the situation, whilst eating burgers and drinking beer on the green.
The Shed at present is open Thursday-Saturday 12-8pm & Sunday 12-5pm
Cheers
